GRCMC's Future Kulture premiers first feature length film.

| |

After two and a half years of hard work, made possible by a grant from the Michgian Women's Foundation,  the Grand Rapids Community Media Center 's Future Kulture group is proud to announce the World Premier of our first feature length video, Kara in Black.  The film tells the story of two sisters on different sides of the Iraq war.  One is a young soldier on her way to Iraq, the other chooses to form a chapter of the peace initiative “Women in Black” to protest the war.

The original screen play was written by award winning play write Max Bush and is based on actual events that took place in Grand Rapids just prior to and during the start of the Iraq War.  The cast and crew was made up almost entirely of students from local universities and high schools, all of whom received media production and research training from professionals in the field.

The event was held at the Wealthy Theatre, 1130 Wealthy SE., Grand Rapids, MI on Friday November 17 at 7:00 p.m.  Watch for  the release date of the DVD.

can I have a copy?

Gretchen,

I'm so glad to hear KIB is finally done! I was just telling Gariet (the awesome OLLIE VISTA) about working on it earlier today!

Love,

Laura

I'll send KIB to you soon

Hi,

Sorry I didn't realize I had emails here until today when I was trying to post my first program for the bicycle. It didn't work, so I'm not sure what I need to do differently.

The premier was fun and the film was received really well. There are some minor audio issues I haven't been able to over come in the Big O's scenes but other then that I'm really pleased with it.

Hope you had a great holiday!

Gretchen
